Yikes

Thank goodness the weather is warming up. Our untouched yard is going to eat us alive. Finally I can get into my flower bed and get my hands dirty. Here is a picture of what one of my flower bed looks like now.

It does need some TLC. At least my gladiolas are still starting to grow. I planted them two years ago. I never planted these kind of flowers before.  I had bought some from my little nephews school fundraiser.

Oh I recently signed up on Bzzagent. It is a site that selects people for campaigns to try out new products for free. I did not think it was real, but I was selected to try out a Pennington's smart feeder system. I can't wait to get it. Great timing for my plants. So this afternoon you will know what I'm doing. Outside getting dirty.

2 Dress hairbow hangers

Do you or someone you know have that little diva that  has hundreds of hair bows? Here is a great project just for that special little girl. Has streaming ribbons to hang hair bows. No misplacing their favorite bows.

For this really cute hair bow dress. I cut out the top pattern with my scroll saw.  Decorated it and sealed it with indoor/outdoor sealer. For the bottom half. I sewed tulle onto ribbons then secured it to the plaque. Added a flower and a ribbon to hang it on the wall. Also on this one I added a hook in the middle of the plaque. This is to hang ponytail holders than can not clip onto the ribbons. If interested to buy I am selling it for 10.00. It is 18 1/2 inches long from tip of the plaque to the bottom, and from the widest points of the plaque it is 6 1/2 inches wide.

Here is another Hair bow holder. On this one I made the same way, but instead of a hanging it on the wall with a ribbon. I put a metal hanger on the back. (Just like a picture).  On the top I added a ribbon across with 3 Fleur De Lis accents on top of the ribbon.  If interested this one is also 10.00.  This one is a little longer. It is 20 inches long and 6 1/2 wide.

Fancy Chalkboard

Well again I found around our home a... well actually don't know what it was. It had two holes at the top for picture frames. The glass was cracked so I removed them. The middle was a scuffed up mirror. The bottom had two broken hooks which again I removed. So I was left with a structure with holes.

Yikes. I knew this was going to be a hard one. I found in my craft room some pieces of thick wood. Which of course was to long. I cut it in half with my scroll saw and glued it perfectly with wood glue in the two top holes. Now the middle. I thought about putting another piece of wood. After a long thought I searched my craft room and found an old chalkboard. Again I cut it with my scroll saw, and glued it perfectly in place. After that I painted the frame Burgundy and distressed it with black to make it look antique. Then glued some matching paper to the wood. Sealed everything in sealer. Then set to dry. Here is the finished result.

I painted the back black, but I left the chalkboard the brown color. This is great to hang in any kitchen.

Old picture frame

Well I found this old picture frame collecting dust in our home. It was dusty and needed a lot of  TLC (tender, love, and care.)  I thought the frame was unique due to the top and bottom border in the corners. Here is the before pictures.

I put it on my craft table and thought what I could do with it. After about 20 minutes of thinking I decided to turn it into a cute dry erase board with style.  So I took out  my scrapbook papers, hot glue gun, and other little embellishments out of my drawer. Then the operation started.  Oh how cute is my pen and brush holder in the background. I took a small box slapped some scrapbook paper.  Then inside I put a bunch of toilet paper tubes to hold all my pens, pencils, markers, paintbrushes, Etc. Very organized. You can paint the tubes or put more decorative paper to cover the brown color. Easy enough for me. Ok back to the results to my frame operation. So here is the dry erase board with style. I think it came out great

Always look around your house for things that are not being use. Anything can be turned into something new.     Plus it is a great pass time. So that's it to my one crafty afternoon.
